Design my summer 2023
Here in the Northern Hemisphere it's nearly time for summer to start (unless you're a meteorologist in which case summer has already begun).
For my sake I'm going to stick with the start date of 21 June as that means this post is actually early! Or at least not late :-)
I've done this before (see here), and it really helps make summer feel more intentional, and well "summery" (instead of letting it just flit by).
So what do you I want to get our my summer this year?
Basically I want to spend as much time as possible on, in, or near water as possible.
Since I live in London some of these things are easier than others, which is why it's going to take planning to make it happen.
I already have a couple of ideas though:
1. Go to Tamesis Dock. I've been walking or running past this floating pub on Albert Embankment since 2020. It is really time to go!
2. Repeat Pub in the Tub. I feel like I've mentioned this before (or maybe I meant to!), but last year friends of mine organised a trip to swim in Shepperton Lake, followed by lunch at the Red Lion pub, and hiring a boat for a chilled outing on the river - which inevitably lead to a swim. It was awesome, it must be repeated.
3. Repeat Shepperton Open Water Swim. As above.
4. Swim in the Serpentine Lido. I tried last year, but it was closed. I'm concerned this swimming venue might be for serious triathlete types, but I guess if I don't go, I'll never know!
5. Visit a tidal pool. In Cape Town I lived near a beautiful tidal pool for a while. According to this article, this is something I can recreate in the UK (although not London obviously!).
That should be enough to keep me focused and occupied.
Do you have plans to design your summer?
